Cold around me, hot within
And we have yet to begin
Limbs feel like they're falling off
Trying to inhale, instead I cough
Pushing and fighting to stay ahead
Stuggling for life, though mostly dead
If only it didn't have to be this way
Looks like we're in for another eight-mile day
FYI, eight miles is a long way to swim in one day. Think about it. Do cross country runners run that far in a day? Amicus, can you answer that for me?

ah, this i can at least relate to. i feel like i've been left to sit and wait it out on the net. i'm glad that you survived though. i would be very sorry without my other half. you add so much to what i am. thanks for that.
I will tell you that most often, no, we don't, but don't ever ask me about the balloon run or the pop shop run. Or I might tell you to not complain to me. Ever. Those are marathon training runs, and if I ever have to run them again I'll. . . .you can imagine.
I must say I'm extremely proud of your effort and accomplishment. Eight miles is a very long way. You are a great athlete, you know.

Thanks, but there's no way I could do this on my own. That's why when people say swimming isn't a team sport, I want to punch them in the nose. Plus, you can't win a meet all by yourself. I will say that it differs from other sports in the tone surrounding the team, but it is as much a team sport as anything else.
